Uganda is a good year-round destination, but the rainy seasons (March to May and November to December) can make logistics a little tricky.

Track Chimpanzee in Kibale National Park, the Primate Capital of Uganda

Uganda is known as the primate capital of the world and by choosing Uganda for your chimpanzee trekking tour is indeed a good choice. There several places in Uganda where you can go for chimp trekking and these include the famous Kibale National Park which has been regarded as the best National Park in Africa to trek wild but habituated chimpanzees. On top of this, you have an opportunity to see other 12 primates resident in this forest.

Just like gorilla trekking, you need a chimp trekking permit for chimps in Kibale National Park, Kyambura Gorge and Budongo Forest. Currently Kibale chimpanzee trekking permits cost USD150.00 per person

Unlike gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda can be done in the morning or afternoon in Uganda. Depending on your program or flight details, you may choose to book a morning or afternoon chimp trekking session. Alternatively you can book chimpanzee habituation experience at USD220.00 to spend a whole day with chimpanzee under habituation. Booking your chimpanzee permit in advance puts you at an advantage as they can sometime run out of stock.
